Nov 24- Community

Tonight we had a pot-luck with other N2N volunteers.  I got to see some familiar faces and enjoyed meeting several new people as well.  It was nice to feel like a part of the community, even though my involvement only started 6 months ago.  I think we sometimes underestimate the value of community connections, particularly within the groups of people and activities we may take for granted.  I think it might be useful for N2N to host more regular gatherings, if nothing else to continue to affirm a sense of belonging and positive momentum for the mediators.  I’m looking forward to a “date” next week with Tina, one of the experienced mediators I hadn’t met before.  She works in the prison in Salem teaching Non Violent Communication.  I don’t know where our professional relationship will take us but I’m excited that it has begun.
